A combination of prescreening and open access is the best possible defense against plagiarism. All journal articles and book manuscripts submitted to the Methodist DeBakey Cardiovascular Journal are screened for plagiarism using iThenticate software. This system compares incoming submissions to a large database of academic content and alerts editors to any possible issues.
Rigorous Peer Review
MDCVJ ensures that all scientific publications are thoroughly peer reviewed by subject-matter-expert reviewers. Publications of a commentary or opinion nature may not be sent for external peer review but will include editorial review and revisions. MDCVJ adheres to the COPE guidelines for best practice. For postpublication errors, we will adhere to our Correction and Retraction policy.

All journal content is indexed with CrossRef and assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and made publicly available via the Initiative for Open Citations. This means that all our references are made available so that citations can be tracked by the publishing community. Published articles are indexed in PubMed and MEDLINE.
